Phil Collen Certain Vince Neil Will Be Ready For High Stakes 'Stadium Tour'

While plenty of Mötley Crüe fans expressed concerns about Vince Neil's fitness level and vocal ability last year, Neil's tour mate Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen is certain Neil will be ready to put on a great show when the 'Stadium Tour' launches next month.

Neil returned to the stage with his solo band last summer after the 'Stadium Tour' was postponed for the second time. But as footage of his solo shows made it online, fans noted that Neil appeared out of breath and sounded out of tune during many songs. At one early gig, Neil left the stage during "Girls, Girls, Girls" complaining about losing his voice.

During a break in his touring, Neil took to Instagram to explain that he was working out like crazy "trying it all" to get back in shape. But about a month later he was sidelined with broken ribs after falling off a stage.

Collen said in a recent radio interview that Neil will be ready when the time comes. And there will be plenty of opportunities for him to get stronger as the tour goes, which they all hope will be for a long time.

"We wanna take this tour to the rest of the world — in Europe, Australia, Japan, all over the place, South America — so it's really important that everyone is part of the team," Collen said. "And we're inspired. Me and Joe [Elliott] — actually, all the guys — we're on the phone, and we start rehearsing in about a week."

He added: "I can't wait till we get out there. And hopefully Vince will be working out. We've got a trainer coming out. Yeah, it's gonna be really cool."

Collen's optimism was less convincing last summer when The Jeremy White Show asked him about Neil's vocal issues. The guitarist noted that Neil had a whole year to get himself together and plenty of motivation.

"There's a lot at stake when you go out, and you wanna be your best," he said at the time.

The 'Stadium Tour' launches June 16. Go here for all the tour dates.
