Okay, I want you to sit down to process this. You ready? I'm just going to lay it out there...
The U.S. men's curling team advanced to Saturday's gold medal contest for the first time in Olympic history after a crucial 5-3 win over Canada, who was supposed it all.
Yep, you heard me. Team USA is in position to bring the curling gold medal home from Pyeongchang!
Team USA has never defeated Canada in the Olympics, and they are now guaranteed at least a silver medal.
I don't know about you, but I'm fired up about this! Here's why...
Four years after he was basically kicked the fck out of the United States curling program, John Shuster is set to lead Team USA to curling victory!
Shuster won a bronze in 2006, but had a horrible time in 2014. He was sent an email from USA Curling that said "Seeya, wouldn't wanna be ya!"
So Shuster lost 35 pounds, formed his own team which everybody called "The Rejects."
That team of "rejects" is about to go for the gold!
I discovered curling over 20 years ago. The curling club I went to was great. Seats facing the Sheet. A full bar. It was fan-tastic!!
So I'll be watching the gold medal round as Team USA takes on the evil Swedes! I hope you will be too!
The men's gold medal match starts tomorrow morning live at 6:30am Pacific time on KGET TV 17. Which pretty much screws up my plans of drinking many beers and bourbons while cheering on John Schuster and "The Rejects." Oh well.
USA! USA! USA!
