Time For The Grateful Dead's Meet Up At The Movies

posted by Mike Bell -

The eighth annual Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies is set for August 1st, which would have been Jerry Garcia's 75th birthday.

This year's film is their July 7th, 1989 performance at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, which was the last concert staged at the 63-year-old venue, which was finally torn down in 1993. The movie will be shown at Edwards Cinemas at The Marketplace on Ming.

The show almost didn't take place as there were numerous fire hazards, not to mention concrete that was literally crumbling away.

Among the songs performed that night were Bob Dylan's "Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again” and "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," along with “Scarlet Begonias,” “Fire on the Mountain,” "Hell in a Bucket" and "Little Red Rooster."
