Recording of The Who 's first studio album in 13 years continues at Mark Knopfler 's British Grove studios in London with Pete Townshend saying , "We are managing a song every day."
Townshend also says that one of the songs will be titled "Detour" because " The Detours was the name of The Who before they became The Who. No word on when the album, their first since Endless Wire in 2006, will be released, but the label is hoping to have it out right before the summer.
Townshend says their fifth day in the studio was spent "adding drums and bass -- and sometimes guitar -- to the tracks I recorded last year to play to Roger [ Daltrey ] for a prospective new Who record. My demos were fairly advanced, and technically good, but I didn’t try to play real drums, and adding drums always feels better if there is bass at the same time. Pino and Zak have a great vibe going, and all their work has enhanced my basic tracks."
Townshend also revealed another song title, "Beads on One String."
Daltrey is on vacation ahead of his trip to Florida next week to board the Rock Legends Cruise on Valentine's Day.
