The official Ronnie James Dio documentary, Dio: Dreamers Never Die, will make its television premiere on Showtime December 1.

It will also be available via the Showtime app. The film was screened in theaters worldwide on September 28.

Dreamers Never Die is the first Dio film authorized by the late-heavy metal icon's estate, with Ronnie's widow and longtime manager Wendy Dio serving as an executive producer of the project.

"The diehard fans think they know everything about Ronnie, but there’s a lot of stuff they don’t," Wendy told Q104.3 New York's QN'A. "Like the doo-wop days, the terrible car accident he had. Those things that the fans don’t know about Ronnie. And we wanted to find things the fans didn’t know about Ronnie. [The filmmakers] achieved that and more."

The movie dives in Ronnie's childhood, the previously untold tragedy of his early career and his eventual love affair with heavy metal.

From the early-'70s to his death in 2010, Ronnie continuously won over audiences around the world with his inspirational message and embrace of fantastical themes. But Dreamers Never Die shows how Dio also lived his lyrics and bet on himself time after time.

The film includes never-before-seen footage and personal photos, as well as brand new interviews with the likes of Wendy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Glenn Hughes, Vinny Appice, Lita Ford, Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach, Jack Black and others.
